Elephant turns out to have human-like behavior. They are very gregarious and groups. In fact, smart Asian elephants make friendship networks. Amazingly, they never forgot old friends. This unique behavior was revealed through a study conducted by Dr.. Shermin de Silva of the University of Pennsylvania.According to Silva, the elephant can find friends though separated by great distances. They can call a friend or find his old friend through scent. "Therefore, though it was not seen, when they met an old friend gets along anymore," he said.
Silva explained that he was doing research involving 100 female Asian elephants. Elephant living in Uda Walawe National Park in Sri Lanka. Silva examine their behavior for 20 months. Asian elephants have smaller bodies than African elephants. In addition to the body, they are also smaller ears than African elephants.
This study reinforces previous research that says elephants live in small groups. Usually elephants are female elephants in groups, whereas the male to choose an independent and not join in any group.
